Check out this brief, to the point video by Native American students at Dartmouth offering a blunt commentary on the perpetuation by some of the Dartmouth Indian logo. The use of music is also quite effective. Yes, the white character is a stereotype, but his being clueless is essential to the point.
As a graduate of Amherst College whose namesake/mascot Lord Jeffery Amherst advocated early germ warfare (smallpox infected blankets), I cannot really claim the higher ground in the mascot department. However, I would like to see a takeoff on this video featuring Chief Wahoo.
